A small firm with one focus: helping you read your data well

Quillstone was founded in Bangkok to address a specific gap — most advisory firms offer complex analytics infrastructure, but few help small teams simply understand what their existing numbers mean.

Our Story

How Quillstone came to exist

Quillstone started with a straightforward observation: small and mid-size companies in Bangkok often collect far more data than they use. Not because they lack the data, but because no one has sat down with them to ask which questions it should answer.

Our founding team had spent years in finance and operations roles before moving into advisory work. We kept seeing the same pattern — teams producing weekly reports that were read by nobody, or dashboards that took hours to maintain but rarely informed a single decision.

We set up Quillstone in 2019 to offer something different: engagements scoped tightly, deliverables your team can actually maintain, and communication that doesn't require a data background to follow. We've worked with import-export businesses, regional professional services firms, and operations teams inside larger companies.

The name comes from a piece of advice a mentor once gave: "A quill leaves a clear line. Don't fill the page." We try to apply that principle to every engagement.

Our Mission

What we're here to do

We help Bangkok-based teams reduce the gap between the data they collect and the decisions they make. Our work is practical and bounded — we don't build systems, we help you use what you have more thoughtfully.

Focused scope

Every engagement has a clear start and end, or a defined ongoing rhythm. We don't expand scope without your agreement.

Plain communication

Our notes and outputs are written for non-specialists. If something needs more explanation, we provide it without charge.

Honest assessment

If a service isn't the right fit, we'll say so in the introductory call. We'd rather decline than deliver work that won't be used.

The Team

The people behind the work

A small, experienced team. We don't subcontract engagements — the people you meet are the people who do the work.

Our Standards

How we approach the work

We hold our engagements to a consistent set of professional standards. These aren't policies posted for appearances — they shape how each project is run.

Written scope before any work

We confirm what's included and what's not in a written engagement note before any session or project begins. No verbal agreements that expand unexpectedly.

Data handled with care

Client data shared during engagements is used only for the stated purpose and held securely. We don't retain source data beyond the engagement period without explicit agreement.

Ongoing professional development

Our team regularly reviews developments in data measurement practice and business analytics literature. We bring current thinking into engagements, not standard templates from five years ago.

No conflicts of interest

We don't accept referral fees from software vendors or other service providers. Our recommendations are based on your situation, not on what earns us a commission.

Internal review on every output

All written notes, templates, and reports go through a second reviewer before delivery. A single person's view is rarely the most complete one.

Responsive communication

We respond to client messages within one working day during the engagement period. For ongoing advisory clients, we also provide availability for short asynchronous questions between sessions.

Data advisory for Bangkok businesses — what that means in practice

Many of the teams we work with have been collecting operational data for years. They have sales figures, project timelines, staff hours, customer counts, and financial summaries. What they often lack is a clear view of which three or four measures actually reflect how their business is performing week to week.

Our advisory work starts with questions, not tools. Before we look at any spreadsheet, we ask what decisions the data is meant to inform and who makes those decisions. The answer shapes everything else — which figures matter, how often they should be reviewed, and how they should be presented to different audiences.

For companies in Thailand operating across multiple business lines or managing regional relationships, the challenge is often one of consolidation: data exists in several places, tracked inconsistently, and nobody has the time to reconcile it manually each month. We can map that situation clearly and suggest a reporting structure that reduces the reconciliation burden without requiring new software.

Our work is most useful when a team already has some data discipline but feels stuck — the reports are being produced, but they're not changing how decisions get made. That specific gap is where Quillstone focuses.
